ok, i just got guild wars yesterday, and wow...
i have played diablo, and other mmorpgs, so i cans see some similarities...
either way i have a bunch of questions i been dying to know:
1. What is the point of spending hours trying to find a party, when u can just get some henchmen and own everything..honestly, i am lvl 6 now, and i been doing the main quest (just finished clearing the digger's quarry of the harpies) and all i do is charge with my army of henchmen...
2. i am an elementalist, and i choose monk as my 2nd...so wat skills should i use, and how to distribute my points?
cause, i got this earth wand, so if i put points into earth, will weeapon do more damage? or just spells?
3. i'll think of more questions..thanks for the help

Finding groups to do missions/quest with is especially tough in the beginner parts of Nightfall. (everyone's doing everything with heros/henchhies) Once you get to the mainland, the missions get tougher and the enemies get meaner. eventually, you'll be a level 20 facing level 24 and 28 monsters. All still do-able with heros/henchies, but there are a lot more people in the latter stages wanting to party up to do those missions.

If your weapon has a "requires X in earth magic" you'll need to have it set that high for that weapon to work to its full potential. The beauty of it is that you can move your skill points around and try different things. For a good build, check around the other sections of these forums for good E/Mo builds (later on, you'll be able to change your secondary, too) Many Eles, in PvE, go with the fire magic line. It's always, always good to have a ressurection skill on your skill bar.

Stupid double post!!
But, not to worry - fresh stuff anyway!
There are lots of Necros in the game - they're pretty well liked in the PvE realm, especially Minion Masters. There is a limit on the number of total minions you can control at a time of 10

The game is more fun if you play with others, although random players can be a pain cuz you never know what you will get. Getting in a good guild helps.

For now focus on one attribute like fire and put the rest in energy storage.

Necromancers/MM's can be good. They need corpses to raise minions from so if there are none left behind or if enemies are exploiting them they can be tough. Necros can do more than just be MM's though so there are other builds to use when corpses are a problem.

Welcome to our addiction. If you need any help, feel free to pm me. The best way to do that is type *n* and your friends list will come up. At the top you type in *Don Fideli* and add me. If I'm on, whatever character I'm playing will show the name. Click on the person icon, and select whisper.

I've never played necro or rit, but I can help you with pretty much any other class.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Visit our wiki at http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page

There you can learn how weapons work, how your attribute points work, primary quest/mission progression, common scams, and how to build and play a minion master.

Players group up for the companionship and fun of playing with other people. As the quests and missions get harder, you might find yourself without a certain skill that would make it easier. Joining or forming a group would make up for that.

I can feel your excitement in your post. It makes me nostalgic. Welcome to Guild Wars and to the Guru.

Don't worry too much about builds at this point since you lack the levels, attribute points and skills to duplicate them. You're better off just equipping some skills and trying them out to see how they work, how they work with others and how you like them. Understanding is better than copying.

That's the Battle islands - and yep, it's the PvP area. Talk ot the NPCs around and see what it's all about. If you make a PvP character, that's where you'll appear in-game.

If you add the other chapters to your account, you'll be able to use the ship to travel to the other continents, after completing short quests to get you to the applicable port city.

Best advise I can give you is to explore everywere and try everything

While there are some skill combos that are more effecient at killing or beating certain missions you may find there not the most fun to use. Read how each skill works at the skill trainer and see if you can fit it into your build, or make a new build around that skill.

The battle islands is not just about pvp, there is a nice training area there where you can test out skills and combos to see how much dmg they do and if they cost to much energy. There are also some foes to fight that may show you intersting things about other proffesions that affect how you play yours.

Enjoy!

You can trade in things like the battle commendations for gear, go to the sunspear hall and look for the NPCs.

At this point you would want to create a PVP-only toon for PvP play since your PvE toon is still low level. Guildwiki is your friend:

1) You're still on the newbie island. Missions get significantly harder after you get off of it.
2) Weapon's damage had always been secondary, that includes all weapons (sword, axe, hammer, scythe, dagger, bow, staff, wand). All the real damage is done by skills. You can distribute all altribute points anyway you want, because GW allows you to freely adjust them in town. You can try and experiment with things.
3) Yes, necromancers in GW can summon minions. But that's not all they do. Summoning minions requires exploitable corpses, and they're not always available. Some monsters die without leaving a corpse.
4) Balthazaar's Temple is only a town on the Battle Isle. It's the PvP ground. You need to be level 20 before you can join any PvP battle on the Battle Isle. Before that, you can PvP in the arena at Kamadan. As a beginner, you only have access to Random Arena. You'll need have 5 consecutive wins in Random Arena to unlock Team Arena. You'll need another 5 consecutive wins in Team Arena to unlock Hero's Ascend. Furthermore, you'll need to unlock at least 3 heros to unlock the Hero Battle.
5) Battle Commendations are for trading stuff from NPC in the Great Sunspear Hall.
6) ...
